Dichroic Glass: What makes it special?

Dichroic glass utilizes microscopically thin layers of metallic oxides vacuum-bonded to borosilicate glass. Instead of absorbing unwanted wavelengths of light (which generates destructive heat), dichroic filters selectively reflect specific wavebands, allowing for rich, permanent, non-fading colors.
